Foster Care Fortnight 2024: Celebrating the Impact of Foster Care

As we have approached Foster Care Fortnight 2024, it is essential to recognise the profound impact foster care has on transforming lives. This annual campaign, organised by The Fostering Network, is the UK's largest initiative to raise awareness and recruit new foster carers. Taking place from 15 to 28 May, Foster Care Fortnight will once again spotlight the dedication and passion of foster carers, highlighting the critical need for more families to step forward and provide loving homes to children in need.

The Importance of Foster Care Fortnight

For nearly two decades, Foster Care Fortnight has been instrumental in showcasing the tireless work of foster carers. Each year, thousands of new foster families are needed to care for children, with a significant demand for carers for older children, sibling groups, disabled children, and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children. This campaign not only celebrates the existing carers but also underscores the continuous need for more families to join this vital community.

“We made the move over to RFS eighteen months ago and found the transition smooth and seamless. The transfer took a lot less time than we were expecting, and our experience with RFS since transferring has been really positive and we are so pleased with our decision.”

“Fostering is the best decision I ever made. I really enjoy looking after the children; of course, it can be testing at times but also very rewarding. I am proud to be able to provide children in need with a safe, caring environment where they can flourish and be themselves. Regional have been a great support, all the staff are wonderful.”

“If you’re thinking about fostering, we highly recommend you give Regional Fostering a call. A professional organisation in every way. We have been fostering for just over 2 years and recently switched to RFS through recommendation, and we’re happy to say it’s the best decision we made.”
